A Dogsledding Odyssey

"Even if you are young, even if you are small, you can still reach many goals and make your dreams come true." Pam Flowers

Please join us as we begin this year's themed event, a dog sledding odyssey, through reading and discussion of several books. Big-Enough Anna written by Pam Flowers with Ann Dixon is the heartwarming story of a puppy who never gives up and becomes a lead sled-dog. Alone Across the Artic is the story of Pam Flower's 2500-mile dogsled journey from Barrow, AK, to Repulse Bay, Canada, making her the first woman to cross the North American Arctic alone.

Many wonderful events are planned starting wih our kickoff event on February 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Moultonborough Auditorium featuring author and sled dog musher Pam Flowers. At this event her books will be available for purchase and she will do a book signing to conclude the evening. In addition, to celebrate our love of animals, you are invited to bring an item to donate to the NH Humane Society <http://www.nhhumane.org/help-donate> or the Lakes Region Humane Society <http://www.lrhs.net/wishlist.html>. Please go to their websites to view a list of needed items.

Many more activities will be held through March 13th that will showcase the books' themes. Please download our list of events and activities and/or visit our events pages located on the left side of this page. Also, check for new photos on the Photos link as events unfold.

Leading up to the final culminating event on March 13th, the Girl Scouts in Moultonborough are also collecting "Pennies for Paws" and will donate the collected pennies to the Humane Society. Containers for pennies will be available at the kickoff event and located throughout the community.
